Our Purpose To celebrate the life and times of Lt. Colonel Juan Bautista de Anza, Presidial Captain of New Spain, now Mexico, explorer, founder of San Francisco, California, and Governor of New Mexico.
These activities shall include 18th century Spanish Colonial history, but not limited to, as authorized by the Board of Directors.
The Anza Society has held an "Annual World Conference" each year since 1996. Conferences have been held in Arizpe, Sonora Mexico (the home town of the Anza Family in America); Monte Vista, Colorado; San Francisco, California; Pueblo, Colorado; Salida, Colorado; Yuma, Arizona; and Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. This year the conference was at the Santa Barbara Presidio at Santa Barbara, California from March 6, 7 & 8, 2008.
